KCP Kowloon City Plaza is an icon of innovative and exciting shopping and leisure experience
for family shopping, dining and entertainment, serves as a community-based shopping mall
for the residents in the Central Kowloon and beyond.
Over the years, KCP organized various campaigns to support and promote Hong Kong local
culture. The award-winning event: “KCP Reigniting the Collective Memory of HK Movies” was
held in 2019-2020. Many old Hong Kong movies encapsulated the Hong Kong spirit and
reflected the zeitgeist of the city between 1950s and 80s. The Hong Kong cinema was widely
popular in those years and lots of people would have wonderful memories of cinema going.
KCP set off to create an old Hong Kong cinema scene, complete with decorations, with an
attempt to recall Hong Kong people’s happy memories of the past.
The theme of a local toys culture in 80s, yo-yo, was developed and promoted during
Christmas 2020 and Chinese New Year 2021. Over 100 of collectables were displayed and a
series of yo-yo tricks tutorial videos were produced to share the skills with general public. To
enrich the campaign, a young local comic artist was invited to create the very first yo-yo
comic with the 80s style and numbers of interactive photo taking spots were produced. After
the promotion campaign, we donated all the used yo-yos to charities and NGOs to sustain the
promotion of yo-yo culture.
Established in 1993, KCP will continue to serve as a regional hub for the shoppers and food
lovers, and bear the responsibility for promoting and sustaining the Hong Kong local culture.
